In the center of the municipality, the Plaza was built in honor of Dr. Curtois, a French doctor who settled in Santa Eulària in the early twentieth century and worked tirelessly to improve the health and welfare of the inhabitants of the area.
Among his most outstanding achievements were the construction of a hospital, the introduction of new hygiene techniques and the fight against infectious diseases.
The square was built on the site of his house, and became an important meeting point for the city’s inhabitants. A statue of the doctor, which was made by local sculptor Vicente Roselló, was placed in the square.
